FUBA INSTALLS YET ANOTHER PAL LINE IN TUNISIA

Fuba Printed Circuits Tunisie is the proud possessor ?and user ?of no less than six PAL lines. It was back in 2001 at Productronica, that Slim Sellami, Managing Director of Fuba Tunisie and Geoff Paterson of PAL took part in a signing ceremony on the PAL stand and the two lines for which the contracts were signed at the show were installed in 2002. One was a pattern plate line and the other a Desmear/ PTH/panel line. Now Fuba has installed another even newer PAL line; this time an Electroless Nickel Gold line.

The new machine

Created in 1991, Fuba Tunisie is the result of a successful joint venture between Fuba Printed Circuit GmbH, a European leader in PCB production, and a Tunisian industrial group, a local leader in the electrical, electronics and telecom sectors and rightly proud of the fact that they are certified ISO 9001; ISO 14001 and ISO TS 16949 (2002).

Specialising exclusively in double sided PCBs since 1996, Fuba Tunisie has committed, and is still committing, new investment to treble its capacity with the ambition of reaching the biggest capacity in double sided boards anywhere in the European economic perimeter. "This permits us to further consolidate our competitiveness and maintain our positive growth trend, despite the depressed overall market," says Slim Sellami.

"In order to enhance what we can offer our customers; and also to anticipate their needs, as far as European Union ‘Lead Free? requirements are concerned, we recently invested in a new PAL Nickel Gold line with a capacity of more than 100,000 m2 / year.

"This new line is equipped with automatic dosing pumps and provides us with both an important capacity increase and also improved yield. Investing in it has enabled us to produce PCBs with very low contact resistance, better conductivity and longterm corrosion resistance in industrial storage conditions, as many of these items are made as spare parts. We are able to respond to our existing customers? requirements and also offer a more complete service to our prospective customers."
