GOOD NEWS FROM TAMBA TRADING OF JAPAN

No sooner had the PAL Black Oxide line been installed at the Ibiden Co of Japan last year than Ken Tamba, of Tamba Trading, PAL’s exclusive agent in Japan, was saying “We are optimistic that we will soon be announcing further orders from Ibiden.”

An evening in Hong Kong was called for when Ibiden Director, Mr.Sekiya visited PAL and asked PAL to become a business partner of Ibiden. Left to right Mr.Matsuno, GM of Ibiden Purchasing Dept, Ronnie Wong of PAL, Mr.Sekiya, Director of Ibiden, Mr.Kibe, GM of Ibiden Philippines, EB Ho of PAL and Ken Tamba.
How right he was! It is certainly a case of success leading to more success. That initial machine has been followed by orders for four more. Three for Ibiden Beijing and one for Ibiden in The Philippines.

Ibiden’s Beijing facility was set up to service Nokia, indeed, it is a mere 200 metres from Nokia’s own factory in Beijing. One of the orders from Ibiden Beijing was for a Gold recovery and Cyanide treatment system, this order was placed after Ibiden had run particularly stringent tests on the Renocell – they were very satisfied with the resulting data. Their machines were in production from mid-August/September.

The Desmear line for Ibiden Philippines was installed in early September. The Ibiden factory in The Philippines makes BGA for Intel: “We are very pleased to have won this particular order” says Ken Tamba. Further information on Ibiden is at www.ibiden.com

A delighted Ken Tamba is also able to confirm “We have also just received an order from a joint venture Japanese:Taiwanese company. This line is for EMS shielding for notebook PC for a factory near Shanghai. And yes, I hope that we will be announcing orders from more Japanese companies before too long.”

Geoff Paterson, Managing Director of PAL is thrilled with the results Ken Tamba and his team have been chalking up in Japan. “We appointed Tamba Trading as our agent in 2000 and have been very pleased with their results in what have turned out to be difficult times. Just think what they will be achieving when there is a more optimistic mood in the industry!”
